Day 3

So this morning I woke up a little unsure of what my new thing was going to be, but a new opportunity presented itself around 9:18 am. We received an email inviting us to have lunch with the president! (of our university) Having never shared lunch with a university president before, I decided that in honor of New November, today was the day. Lunch consisted of a ham sandwich, apple, Cheetos, and rice krispie bar. Our president is this incredible woman that seems to have it all together. She gave us a brief version of her life story, followed by a quick glimpse into what a day in the life of a president looks like. She is extremely passionate about promoting our medical school and building its reputation. Lately, she told us she has been saying yes to about every publicity opportunity that comes along. Though she has a TON on her plate right now, she was extremely poised, eloquent, and down-to-earth. It was refreshing to see someone with such responsibility be so real with us. She really took interest in the thoughts and suggestions of the students and expressed a deep desire to get to know us better. The luncheon made me realize even more that no matter how busy we get, life really is what we make of it.
