Day 9

Tonight I babysat for the little girl that I nanny-ed this summer. I haven't seen her since the summer so I was thrilled to get the call. So the new thing I experienced was I sat in on my first in-home piano lesson (in which I was not the pianist). It was a little bittersweet as I played piano for about a year when I was in second grade, but then decided to quit because I hated it. And practicing. And the recitals. etc. After hearing Sheridan play and watching the instructor put a gold star as she perfected the latest piece, I was reminded again how I wish I had continued playing. Dang it, second-grade self! When Mom asked me back then if I was SURE I wouldn't regret it when I grew up, I was clearly underestimating my musical potential. I guess now I will just live vicariously through Sheridan whose future is bright with gold stars and whole notes.

The other exciting new thing that occurred while babysitting was that we ordered Northern Lights pizza, which I had never had before. I highly recommend their bread sticks.
